Welcoming the new summer...
Message from Joel:
The Film & Photography Society at UCR is very excited about the future. This past year, the Photography section of the club has flourished through: photo excursions all over LA County, photo exhibits at the Riverside Arts Walk, and participation in UCR events like LUX. At the same time, the Filmmaking section of the club has steadily regained its form. Most of our efforts were focused on finishing “Crossing Borders?,” a very ambitious effort for a no-budget student film. However, we also managed to shoot a couple short films; most notably, “Laundry Day,” which we will be screening alongside “Crossing Borders?” next year.

Due to our recent success, we feel as if any goals or aspirations we have for the future are more than attainable. The following year we plan on: expanding our Podcast series, screening the films we filmed the past year, competing in film festivals, and covering school events like Block Party, among many other projects. There is a lot of optimism for the future of FPS thanks to the new officers taking over and veteran members returning. This combination of new ideas and experience should help in building off this year’s success. However, what excites everyone the most is the prospect of new members joining. We have a lot of hopes and aspirations for the future of FPS and with new members on board we know they can all be realized.

What's up with us
For many for us, summer has started or is about to start. It's going to get hot in the Southern California so make sure to keep cool and drink lots of water. Those who choose to go to the cheap, don't drown or catch on fire. Believe me, people do catch on fire, or at least severely burn themselves. Those leaving the region, enjoy temperatures not breaking new records and have a safe trip back. And if you're retreating back to place hotter than beautiful Riverside, then have fun.

For those of you in the area and want to do something, feel free to contact us since we are always looking for new ideas and projects to start working on. And lastly, good luck on your finals and have a great summer. Thank you for visiting the website.
